How to relax in the face of extreme anxiety
A painfully simple breathing technique for calming oneself
Today’s newsletter was supposed to be about my brand new project.
But, at the last minute, my co-founder and I decided to make changes to the product and will be launching properly in the next few weeks.
So I can’t tell you about it right now.
I’d written an entire post on it 🤦♂️
It’s currently 4:34pm on Monday (the day before this newsletter goes live). I don’t have time to write another newsletter from scratch, so I’ve decided to record a video instead.
A breathwork technique to reduce anxiety
I use this technique to relax during periods of intense anxiety.
It’s designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the PNS, which helps the body relax. Think of it as the "calm-down" system.
In states of anxiety, the sympathetic nervous system is activated — this is basically the fight or flight function we experience in times of panic.
The good news: with a little training, we can activate our PNS at will. This video will teach you how to do that.
